St. Joseph Hospital Midwifery adds Theresa Small, CNM, APRN, to Practice

Nashua, NH – January 30, 2019 – St. Joseph Hospital is pleased to announce Theresa Small, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), has joined St. Joseph Hospital Midwifery, expanding its “full circle” access to maternal care in and around Nashua.

Her clinical and management skills will help ensure families have access to high-quality and compassionate midwifery services in our community,” said Donald Reape, MD, Medical Director of Physician Practices, St. Joseph Hospital. “Theresa has more than 20 years of experience caring for women and newborns in labor and delivery, postpartum and pediatrics. Her considerable experience will be an asset to our practice.”

To enhance her obstetrics career in clinical practice and nurse management, Small returned to the classroom and recently earned her Master of Science in Nursing/Nurse-Midwifery at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.

While earning her nurse midwifery degree, Small worked at St. Joseph Hospital as a registered staff nurse providing antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care to women and infants. Prior to that, she also worked as both a staff nurse and maternal child health unit manager at the hospital. In addition, Small was a clinical nurse manager in obstetrics at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. There, she supervised inpatient nursing care in labor and delivery, postpartum and special care nursey and facilitated OB simulation education for high-risk deliveries at a hospital that averaged 1,200 deliveries per year.
