Advocacy

For over 80 years, the Chamber has been the voice for business in the Southern New Hampshire region. As a strong voice for wise pubic policy and continued economic development, the Chamber has been in driving force for decisions that help the region maintain its unique quality of life while continuing to be an outstanding place to grow a business. In Concord, the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce is the only New Hampshire Chamber that engages a lobbyist to represent our membership. Our significant commitment to advocacy is an every day endeavor which has yielded significant results for the New Hampshire business community.

Home grown initiatives, like a rewrite of the state’s Net Operating Loss statute, have meant millions of dollars in tax cuts to needed businesses. In 2004 alone, the Chamber’s efforts on this issue alone meant a tax savings of $15 million for over 4000 New Hampshire companies. Recent reform of our Eminent Domain laws, authored by the Chamber, have tilted the balance away from the Department of Transportation and made the process fairer for business. Most significantly, the Chamber has been a consistent voice for business in the halls of the legislature when important decisions have been made.

Locally, the Chamber has been a voice for wise growth principles that will protect our quality of life while making Nashua a business friendly city. Affordable housing, a well educated workforce, bringing rail transportation back to Nashua and wise growth regulations have all been key initiatives of the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce. Protecting the unique business climate that we have here in New Hampshire is a significant and ongoing effort and by acting together, with one voice, the business community will continue to be well represented.
